WANGDUE PHODRANG


Wangdue Phodrang is the third fortress built by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, the founder of Bhutan as a state. The location of the Dzong (fortress) is really amazing covered with historic backgrounds. It looks like it is built on the nose of an elephant. It is surrounded by two rivers flowing from left and right. The place is known for its diverse crop cultivation such as paddy, millet, vegetables, fruits etc. The place carried many Bhutanese folktales and ballads of historic people. 

WANGDUE PHODRANG is also the place where many religious places exist. Many people around the world visits the place for the purpose of visiting the religious places and sites. Uncountable religious sites in the place would amaze you. The sites are located in the midst of the serene environment, mystic cliffs, beautiful rivers and overlooking places. You will come across different stories from different religious sites.
